On 11 and 12.06.2024 the symposium took place in Rostock "E-mobility on the water" which was entirely dedicated to the challenges and solutions for an emission-free future in maritime transportation. The event brought together experts from science, industry and politics and provided an ideal platform for exchanging ideas on innovative technologies, infrastructure developments and sustainable projects.
Exciting insights into maritime electromobility
The symposium offered a wide range of informative presentations and discussions focusing on the latest drive concepts. Whether battery-electric ships, hybrid systems or fuel cell drives - the technologies presented impressively demonstrated how the maritime industry can reduce its emissions. Particular attention was paid to infrastructural challenges, such as the expansion of charging and refueling facilities in ports, as well as specific best practice examples from ongoing projects.
Valuable discussions and new perspectives
For us, the symposium was an excellent opportunity to talk to leading minds from various fields. The exchange with scientists, industry representatives and political decision-makers not only gave us valuable insights into current trends and developments, but also enabled us to initiate promising collaborations. The discussions about interdisciplinary approaches that are necessary to successfully shape the transformation of shipping were particularly inspiring.
Conclusion: An important step towards sustainable shipping
The "E-mobility on the water" symposium impressively demonstrated that the maritime sector is determined to make its contribution to the energy transition. For us, taking part was not only an inspiring experience, but also an important step towards actively contributing to the development of emission-free solutions. We look forward to incorporating the contacts made and knowledge gained into future projects and working together to make shipping more sustainable.
